The Baxter Boys 2005 trip to the Adirondacks

Who went this year

We camped at the Lake Durant State Campground:

Lake Durant Campground is located on the east shore of 327 acre Lake Durant. The remote Central Adirondack setting of this facility offers a relaxing, quiet beauty and breathtaking views of Blue Mountain. The campsites offer privacy; they are large and well forested. Lake Durant Campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities including: Canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling.

Notes about the campground.

Idea's for next year:

• Stay in sites #42 & #43.

• Go rafting.

• Get an 8 quart cook pot, or larger, or a dutch oven (Bill says 10-12 qt).

• Replace beer with spirits to save space. (or reduce beer)

• Have a "divide up or throw away" food event at the end of the trip.

• Do "trail head check-in" to make sure we've got everything on the community gear list.

• Bring our own canoes / boats.

• Buy a seal-a-bag system.

• Go back to regular plates.

• Buy a folding colapsable sink.

• We ran out of wine, and could have used more to get through the meals.

• Far fewer discussions of Lance Armstrong.

• Visit the other tourist railroad.

• Stay in a campground closer to the high peaks.
